Holiday Happenings

The Holiday season is in full-swing, which means lots of concerts, recitals, and of course, planning for the New Year! As lessons and classes wind down this month, I am preparing students for different recitals and song-shares. It’s always a joy to see how much they’ve progressed and for them to share what they’ve been working on with a supportive audience! One of my elementary group voice classes at the Darien Arts Center will be singing our arrangement of “When I Grow Up” from Matilda next week (a favorite of mine!) and I can’t wait for them to have their first performance experience!

This past weekend was also filled with some performances of my own. On Saturday December 7th, our band Gunsmoke hosted an annual benefit concert - “Home for the Holidays” to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. So many people came out to support and share in a fun night of music!

On Sunday, I performed in the annual Christmas Cantata at First United Methodist Church in Stamford. While I’m always happy to return to sing with this wonderful Choir, this year’s program of gospel music was especially exciting! It featured selections from the Gospel/Jazz Messiah, “Too Hot To Handel” (another favorite of mine!) and the compositions of their very own lovely legend- Vaneese Thomas. I was honored to sing a solo on Vaneese’s “Thank You For Son”. I love this song so much and it hasn’t left my head since! Here are some video clips from the Service:

Wishing you all a joyful and music-filled Holiday season!
