Christina DeMaio is a New England based teaching artist. Christina earned her B.M. in Vocal Performance (Classical) from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. A versatile vocalist, Christina actively performs a diverse array of repertoire. Musical Theatre and Operatic highlights include: "Perón's Mistress" in Evita, “Dido” in Dido and Aeneas, “Fantine” in Les Miserables, “Prince Orlofsky" in Die Fledermaus, and “The Witch” in Into the Woods.

Christina has been performing from a young age, joining her family in their Classic Country & Western Swing band, Gunsmoke, where she developed her deep love of harmony singing. Christina is the Soprano vocalist the World Vocal Trio, HOME PORT, recently releasing their new album, "HOME PORT 3."

Christina is a former Young Artist at Asheville Lyric Opera (2016). She has appeared as a soloist with the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra and various ensembles throughout the Northeast. Christina is also a seasoned Cantor, Chorister, and Section Leader, serving at many Parish communities. She is currently the Alto Choral Scholar at St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, NH.

Christina's private voice studio is comprised of singers of all ages throughout the Northeast. Since 2015, Christina has taught private lessons and group voice classes for several arts and youth theatre organizations throughout New Hampshire, Connecticut, and New York City.

 

Christina has also served as a vocal coach and music director for several youth theatre companies, including Pine Street Players in Exeter, NH, where her studio is based. Christina is also on the teaching staff of The Choir School at St. John's.

Christina is proud to be the Director of Faculty Development and Family Relations at Vielka's Young Singers Academy, an international voice training program based in NYC. Under the ongoing mentorship of founder Vielka Kelly-Weiss, Christina passionately employs The Vielka Method™ in her teaching, a comprehensive and accessible approach to vocal technique, music literacy, and song study designed specifically for young singers, applicable to all ages.

Christina is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the Granite State Chapter of NATS.  She recently completed the NATS-NYC Mentor Teacher Program in 2020, observing and learning from master teachers in Musical Theatre voice. When she is not singing or teaching, Christina

is a passionate advocate for mental health. 

 

Collaborators and writing partners Christina & Suzanne Jalbert Jones have written their first full-length musical, Burdick's Bookstore. On August 13th, 2022, it premiered with a workshop production featuring alumni of the Pine Street Players Youth Theatre Program.
