Christina DeMaio is an NYC-based teaching artist. Christina earned her B.M. in Vocal Performance (Classical) from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston where she studied under soprano Lisa Saffer. A versatile vocalist, Christina actively performs a diverse array of repertoire. Musical Theatre and Operatic highlights include: "Perón's Mistress" in Evita, “Dido” in Dido and Aeneas, “Fantine” in Les Miserables, “Prince Orlofsky" in Die Fledermaus, and “The Witch” in Into the Woods.
Christina has been onstage from a young age, joining her family in their Classic Country & Western Swing band, Gunsmoke, where she developed her deep love of harmony singing. She has released original music in this genre as Christina Mae.
Christina also holds several Shakespeare credits, including: “Margaret” in Much Ado About Nothing, and “Lady Macduff” in Macbeth. She has served as the Vice President of The Lipstick Project, an organization devoted to the empowerment and support of women through all-female productions of Shakespeare's plays.
Christina is a former Young Artist at Asheville Lyric Opera (2016). She has appeared as a soloist with the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra and various ensembles throughout the Northeast. Christina is also a seasoned Cantor, Chorister, and Section Leader, serving at many Parish communities. She is currently the Alto Section Leader at Round Hill Community Church (Greenwich, CT).
Christina maintains a private voice studio of singers from NYC to New Hampshire. Since 2015, she has taught private lessons and group voice classes for several arts and youth theatre organizations throughout NYC, CT, and NH. She has served as vocal coach and assistant music director for Pine Street Players in Exeter, NH. Christina is a founding faculty member at Young Singers Academy in NYC, teaching under the mentorship of founder Vielka Kelly-Weiss.
Christina is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and completed the NATS-NYC Mentor Teacher Program in 2020, observing and learning from master teachers in Musical Theatre voice.
Christina currently resides in New York City, pursuing a life filled with music both onstage and behind the scenes.
