Christina DeMaio is an NYC-based teaching artist. Christina earned her B.M. in Vocal Performance (Classical) from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston where she studied under soprano Lisa Saffer. A versatile vocalist, Christina actively performs a diverse array of repertoire. Musical Theatre and Operatic highlights include: "Perón's Mistress" in Evita, “Dido” in Dido and Aeneas, “Fantine” in Les Miserables, “Prince Orlofsky" in Die Fledermaus, and “The Witch” in Into the Woods.
Christina has been onstage from a young age, joining her family as a vocalist in their Classic Country & Western Swing band, Gunsmoke. Christina has released original music in this genre as Christina Mae. With a strong love of harmony singing, Christina particularly enjoys performing and recording background vocals for various contemporary groups and projects.
Christina also holds several Shakespeare credits, including: “Margaret” in Much Ado About Nothing, and “Lady Macduff” in Macbeth. She has served as the Vice President of The Lipstick Project, an organization devoted to the empowerment and support of women through all-female productions of Shakespeare's plays.
Christina was a Young Artist at Asheville Lyric Opera in 2016. She has appeared as a soloist with the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra and various ensembles throughout the Northeast. Christina is also a seasoned Cantor, Chorister, and Section Leader, serving at many Parish communities. She is currently the Alto Section Leader at Round Hill Community Church (Greenwich, CT).
Christina teaches private voice lessons and group classes for young singers at several arts and youth theatre organizations throughout NYC, CT, and NH. She has served as a vocal coach and assistant music director for Pine Street Players youth theatre company in Exeter, NH, where she maintains a private voice studio. Christina is also on faculty atYoung Singers Academy in NYC, and Darien Arts Center in CT.
Christina currently resides in New York City, pursuing a life filled with music both onstage and behind the scenes.
