During her time in New York City, she trained under master teacher Vielka Kelly-Weiss, becoming a Founding Voice Educator of Young Singers Academy and a practitioner of the Vielka Method — a comprehensive approach to vocal technique and musicianship designed especially for young singers. She now serves behind the scenes as Head of Programs for the Academy.
In addition to her studio teaching, Christina loves vocal coaching for youth theatre productions and working with local choirs of all ages as a guest clinician.
Christina is an active member of NATS, part of both the Granite State (NH) and Boston Chapters. In 2024, she became a recipient of NATS' Joan Frey Boytim Award for Independent Teachers. Christina also completed the NATS-NYC Mentor Teacher Program in 2020, observing and learning from master teachers in Musical Theatre voice.
Outside of music, Christina is a passionate mental health advocate and serves on the Board of Directors of OCD New Hampshire.
Christina DeMaio is a Seacoast-based vocalist and voice teacher who believes the joy of music-making is for everyone.
Growing up in a musical family, Christina’s love of harmony began at home — first listening to, and later singing in, her family’s award-winning Country & Western Swing band, Gunsmoke.
She earned her degree in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory in Boston. spanning Opera, Musical Theatre, Folk, and beyond. She actively performs throughout New England as both a soloist and ensemble singer. On Sunday mornings, you can find her at one of her beloved musical homes - St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth - where she serves as the Alto Choral Scholar, and performs in their resident Americana ensemble “Chapel Street Band.”
Christina began teaching voice in 2015 and built her private studio, Christina DeMaio Voice Studio LLC, in Exeter, New Hampshire. She works joyfully with children, teens, and avocational adult singers, helping them gain practical tools, develop healthy vocal habits, and build confidence that extends far beyond the lesson room.
