Songs for a New Year

December, as usual, was a busy month of music for both myself and my students!

I always enjoy singing traditional Holiday repertoire, from the Messiah, to the classic Advent hymns and carols heard year after year. This Christmas Eve, we performed a Bach Cantata (BWV 151) at St. John's in Portsmouth, which was a fun and different challenge in addition to the many beautiful choral pieces we sang throughout the season.

A real highlight of the month and fitting end to 2017 was our "Songs for a New Year" benefit concert for the Pine Street Players' upcoming season. We had been looking forward to this night for several months and collectively assembled a rich and varied program of musical theatre numbers (with no shortage of Sondheim, of course). It was so wonderful getting this group of friends and singers back together for one great night of storytelling to ring in the new year while raising close to three thousand dollars for PSP! Many thanks to all who participated and attended.

Here's to even more exciting musical endeavors in 2018; Happy New Year!
